Romance In Europe

Piazza Navona in Rome, Italy

This itinerary takes you to the most romantic European cities, both with the big 3, Paris, Rome and Venice, as well as the more intimate cities of Copenhagen and Amsterdam.

Paris is a given when it comes to romance - the Seine, the romantic Latin Quarter and the beautiful parks are excellent backgrounds for your love. Be aware that the service in Parisian cafes, restaurants and hotels can be even very rude and impolite - if this tends to upset you or your loved one, then consider going to one of the other choices.

The old part of Rome between Via Veneto and the River Tiber bridges to the Vatican, and the Trastevere across the Tiber, are the really romantic parts of Rome, with lots of atmosphere and cobblestoned little squares with cafes where you can sit and enjoy the company of your loved one.

  • Venice, Italy

Venice with its many canals and beautiful buildings, and gondola tours down the Canale Grande make romance come easy. Unfortunately Venice has some environmental problems these days, so check with your travel agent for current flooding or areas being closed to the public before you book.

Copenhagen is big enough to be a city, yet small enough to be intimate and cosy. Danes have a special word for this coziness: Hygge. Downtown Copenhagen with its small squares and pedestrian streets, and the Nyhavn harbour area with the little nooks and crannies are full of great escapes in which to enjoy each other and let your romance blossom.

Amsterdam has many quiet intimate spots as well as more active and lively streets along its canals and the old town. But be aware that romance and the Red Light District in the old town don't necessarily go together too well, unless you need a choice of sex toys to spice things up back home. A canal tour is a must to get the best views of Amsterdam and its romantic atmosphere.
